“This diptych was born from the specific silence of a four-day Christmas storm. After days spent in the cold and the dark, the return of electricity to the studio felt less like a utility and more like a revelation. The air became thick with the scent of spray paint and the sudden, high-voltage energy of being able to see the color again.
My process is one of urban realism filtered through a lens of Neon Romance—heavy with scrapes, physical bumps, and the frantic movement of aerosol. But through that grit, this work seeks a moment of hard-won grace.
The title, 'I Saw The Light, And Thought Of You', reflects that human reflex to reach for someone the moment the darkness breaks. It is a celebration of the 'glow' that follows the struggle, and a reminder that even the messiest, most turbulent journeys are worth it if they lead back to the light.” - Bekah Bull
