"On a recent visit to Point Lobos on the California coast, close to where I live, I was struck by the remarkable, contorted, almost dancing forms of the ancient cypress trees that cling to the very edge of the peninsula.
Although the trees in this painting really do exist, I rearranged them to create a greater sense of mystery, capturing that magical moment on a foggy morning when the sun is just beginning to break through the dense coastal mist.
