"'China Cove' is one of the most popular spots for plein air artists, yet it is almost always painted from the northern overlook. For this piece, I chose instead to work from the south, which reveals an entirely different story.

From this vantage point, the rocky bluff sweeps downward into a golden crescent of sand, gently lapped by turquoise waters. The composition is framed by a young pine, adding both intimacy and perspective to the scene. It becomes less about the familiar view, and more about the quiet movement of land meeting sea.

I was drawn to the sense of flow in this angle—the way the eye travels naturally from the strength of the bluff to the softness of the shore, and then out into the calm expanse beyond." - Simon Bull
