"A group of skiers descends in the early afternoon as a shaft of sunlight glances across the slope, casting their figures into silhouette and stretching long blue shadows across the snow.
I have always been captivated by those fleeting alpine moments when light transforms everything it touches. The mountain becomes theatrical — brilliant whites set against deep cobalt shadows — and the human form is reduced to gesture and motion. In this painting, the skiers are less about individual identity and more about rhythm, balance, and the shared exhilaration of descent.
The contrast between illuminated snow and silhouetted figures creates both drama and serenity. It is a study in movement and stillness at the same time — the stillness of the vast mountain and the swift energy of those passing through it." - Simon Bull
