"In my blossom paintings, I like to begin with a luminous circular moon, over which I lay the branches and blooming flowers that form the foreground, pushing the moon into another realm—distant yet alluring. In this work, I chose not to paint the moon itself; instead, the canvas becomes the source of light—perhaps the sun, or perhaps the full moon. Either way, it sets the stage for the actors, whether romantic birds pairing up or branches in wild abundance, twining themselves around one another as gravity pulls them toward the earth from their lofty treetop realm." - Simon Bull
